Programs at William Smith High School

Academics:

Follows the Expeditionary Learning (EL) Education model with a full project-based academic course offering grounded in student-choice and voice. Project blocks include open-ended questions that engage students in work that is engaging, authentic, meaningiful and connected to their community. Projects are enhanced with access to guest experts and fieldwork so students experience their learning in real-world settings.

Athletics & Activities:

Boys & Girls Soccer, Boys Basketbal, Girls Volleyball, Student Leadership, Service, Dungeons & Dragons, Girls Who Code, E-Sports, August Induction: All students participate in an outdoor adventure trip in August at the beginning of the year

Arts & Music:

Band, Guitar, Ukulele, All forms of 2D and 3D Art within Project-Based Curriculum

Leadership & Service:

Rudder: Junior leadership group and school-based ambassadors who work within our building to support new students, Rudder-ites: Sophomore Leadership group supporting the district and Aurora community with service work, Crew Service: Every student participates in service at least once annually with their Crew (homeroom class)
